Artist Residencies

Since completing my Honours Degree in Three Dimensional Design (1979) and then a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and Art Therapy (1982) I have worked with Pre-Schools, Primary & Infant Schools; a Sixth Form College and Further Education in both a Teaching and Community Art capacity. This has involved working with groups with a wide range of abilities in a variety of exciting and challenging mediums.

Recent projects have involved working with a broad spectrum of client groups; Mayday Trust, BTCV, British Waterways, The Northamptonshire Canal Partnership.

My involvement over many years, with Northamptonshire Open Studios, in Daventry and the surrounding area, has involved organising events, workshops, and placements for Artists and Craftspeople in Galleries, Libraries, Church’s, Country Parks. (In fact wherever I could place them!!)

Children shape up for art
PRE-SCHOOLER Jake Scott (pictured) proudly shows off the result of his and his classmates’ clever claywork- made to mark the millennium. The beautiful bowl features the artwork of every youngster at Barby pre-school, in Barby, near Rugby and is a lasting reminder of their talents for the years to come. Youngsters at the pre-school chose their favourite shape and cut it out of clay, initialled it for posterity and then local artist and relief teacher Dorothy Crowe made a bowl from the shapes. The bowl is taking pride of place at a flower festival held in the village church this weekend and will then go on display in the school. “It turned out very well and the children are quite rightly very proud of it,” said Dorothy.

Combined Effort: Nine-year-olds Lindsay Gray and Jack Mozley show off the pot.
Pupils' Spirit shown in pot
A HUGE pot has been made by all 214 children at Clifton upon Dunsmore Primary School. Each youngster made a small bit of the pot, which was pieced together by local artist Dot Crowe and Nash Meghi. Called Spirit of the Sea, the colourful metallic pot features fish, shells and waves, and was made during Arts Week. Year 4 pupils Lindsay Gray, Sam Norman, Kirstie Whittam and Andrew Kent said they were pleased to be able to show off the pot.
