Google App Engine

Having decided that I would have a play with my AppEngine account and try and produce a simple web app, I now find myself learning Python, webapp, GQL and Django.

Not bad for a VB.Net developer with no spare time!

New Latop

Well my alienware laptop has arrived, and as usual with new hardware I have completely rebuilt the operating system and the software stack to give me the computer that I want. It is now ready to use in anger, and this post is the start of that. We are starting some more web development tasks, and I am going to start building an Actinic site in the next couple of days, so watch out for some posts on my experiences. ;)

AlienSkys

Uploaded a new holding page for alienskys.co.uk as I wanted somewhere to play with jQuery. Since finding this library I have been slowly replacing prototype.js with it across all our sites, as it is lighter weight, hosted by google ajax api, and I find it much easier to develop with.

New Projects.

We are currently working on some interesting new internal projects, which have both Laura and myself excited ! More will be revealed in future posts... ;)

jQuery

Been playing with jQuery with an aim to replace prototype.js and script.aculo.us. Now that the minified version of jQuery is hosted on google, we will be using it more in our websites, as we get the benifit of jQuery's smaller size, and google's servers hosting the script for us to improve speed and cache ability.
